Automotive Aluminum Advisors Welcomes Federal R&D Programs Expert David Williams

PLYMOUTH, Mich., March 25, 2019 – Automotive Aluminum Advisors announced today that David Williams, a recognized federal research and development subject matter expert, has joined its team. Williams will be responsible for supporting Automotive Aluminum Advisors’ work with automakers, suppliers and research organizations to secure federal funding opportunities for advanced technology and manufacturing research and development initiatives.
"Dave has extensive experience securing major federal awards and programs with both civilian and defense agencies," said Nate Beavers, Automotive Aluminum Advisors president. "Dave’s leadership will help us expand our work with the OEMs and tiers to help them leverage various federal r&d programs and funding opportunities that are out there."
Automakers and suppliers are investing significant research and development resources into advanced technologies as the automotive industry moves into a new era with autonomous driving, connectivity, electrification and shared mobility.
Williams most recently served as the Chief Operating Officer at the Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CESMII), a public-private partnership within the federal government's Manufacturing USA program. In this capacity, he had responsibility for finance, contracting, human resources, intellectual property, and corporate compliance.
Previously, Williams spent 26 years with Alcoa holding various leadership positions in business development, technology marketing and government contracts at the Alcoa Technical Center, including holding the position of Director of Government R&D Programs. Prior to joining Alcoa, his background includes significant federal experience, beginning with the Department of the Navy and then with the Department of Energy.
Williams holds a J.D. from Duquesne University. He is a Public Contracts Attorney and has specialized in data and patent rights.
